Q&A

How are the meetings structured?

The group is chaired by a member on a rotational basis of 12 -18 months. The current Chair will control the meeting agenda which typically includes the following elements. We try to make each meeting slightly different.

  • Introduction and welcome to members and visitors
  • Ten minute presentation by one or two members
  • Update on collaborations
  • Business training/ educational presentations
  • Social diary opportunities
  • Members business issues or challenges
  • Recruitment of new members

What’s the best way to get to know members?

The ten minute presentation is the best way to showcase your business and your personality. Following the presentation there is an opportunity to answer questions and interact with the group.

1-2-1 meetings with other members are encouraged to explore mutual opportunities, contacts and potential introductions. These don’t take long and are generally organised at members’ convenience over a coffee. Growing relationships with other members establishes trust and confidence to build solid relationships.

How are new members recruited?

Membership is by invitation only and we have a strict policy that members’ business interests should not conflict. Members may bring potential members along to a meeting as guests. That way, both parties gain the best possible appreciation of how the applicant might fit and integrate into SHARE.

We ask that visitors attend 2 meetings before submitting an application to join. We aim to process new member applications within two weeks, so that they are able to attend the next fortnightly meeting as a member. The process is as follows:

  1. We will ask the person to complete the application form.
  2. Your application is then voted on by the group.
  3. If you are accepted into the group, you’ll pay the annual membership subscription of £39 per month, 10 months of the year (£390 per year).
  4. Annual subscriptions are payable in January.
